Perched on the north-eastern edge of Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Crater, Crater’s Edge offers guests a retreat both dramatic and serene. Nestled within an Acacia Forest, the lodge is minutes from the crater floor yet elevated above it all — a rare vantage point into one of Africa’s most iconic landscapes.

Designed by Internationally known Designer Les Harbottle, the lodge was envisioned as an organic extension of its volcanic rim. Natural textures, muted tones, and an understated palette echo the surrounding landscape, ensuring every detail blends with its setting rather than standing apart.
Our team carried this vision indoors, with leather furniture as the anchor of intimacy. Sofas and armchairs were crafted not only for strength — to withstand altitude, dust, humidity, and time — but also for touch, for comfort, for the kind of warmth that makes a suite feel like a sanctuary.

In the reception lounge, guests are welcomed by seating designed to restore, not distract.
In the dining area, leather chairs balance elegance with endurance, holding space for meals that linger long after sunset.
In the guest suites, sofas and armchairs invite reflection — by the fire, by the window, by the silence.
Every piece was constructed to export-grade standards, then carefully packed and loaded into smaller vehicles to navigate the steep crater roads. Arriving intact, each item was unwrapped “like opening presents,” as the client described — small gifts that complete a greater vision.

The Ngorongoro Crater is not only a UNESCO World Heritage Site; it is living heritage — home to wildlife and to the Maasai people whose traditions continue to shape this land.
For our team, creating furniture here was not about adding presence but about creating belonging. To craft pieces that live quietly within the lodge, allowing guests to feel both grounded and elevated, embraced and inspired.
